D. “Dan” Haney, 81, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Springfield, MO, Jacksonville, IL, Naperville, IL, High Bridge, NJ, Oswego, IL, Berkley Heights, NJ, Alton, IL died at 9:41 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Princeton, IL.
He was born on September 28, 1931 in Chicago to the late Elmore and Patrina Cook Haney, Sr. He was raised in Bureau, IL, and graduated from Hall High School. He married Mildred Cooney of Jacksonville, IL on July 3, 1965 and she died on November 19, 2006. He is also preceded in death by one brother, Frank Haney.
Surviving is one daughter, Terri Gray of Princeton, IL; three granddaughters Amber and Kim Gray of Princeton and Tricia Strickler of McNabb; one great grandchild, Alex; one brother, Elmore Haney of League City, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dan served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion and the DAV. He retired after 32 years of service from AT&T where he worked as a manager.
Graveside Service: 1:00 pm on Friday, November 9th at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
