Robert H. Boehmer, age 90, of Springfield, IL died at his home, at 11:35 am, Friday, September 17, 2010. He was born on January 19, 1920 in Springfield, the son of John and Catherine Zint Boehmer. A resident of Springfield all of his life, Mr. Boehmer worked at the depot of the Illinois Central Railroad for 26 years and retired from School District 186 on January 1, 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Marie H. Boehmer and Frances C. Turner and 4 brothers; George A., John C. , Carl J. and Karl E. Boehmer.
He was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Church, Graduate of St. Agnes Grade School class of 1936, member of Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council #364 for over 60 years, a member for 48 years of the Bishop Griffin Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Surviving are a sister; Catherine L. Miller of Springfield, a niece; Mary Lou Aiello and 3 nephews; Robert J. Miller, John A. “Jack? Miller and Harvey L. Turner and several great nieces and great nephews.
Robert has donated his body for medical research.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11 am until time of memorial mass at 12 noon on Friday, September 24, 2010 at St. Agnes Church, with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Agnes Building Fund.
