RIVERTON – Robert E. Birb Viola, 84, of Riverton died at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Capitol Care.
He was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Riverton, the son of Charles P. and Anita Marconi Viola. He married Lura Lee Page on April 2, 1945.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charlie Pete Viola.
He is survived by his wife, Lura Lee Viola of Riverton; three daughters, Anita (Kenneth) Hundley of Cleaver, Mo., Cathy (Terry) Graves of Spaulding and Denise (Rick) Koehler of Sherman; two sons, Robert C. (Linda) Viola and Deron Viola, both of Riverton; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Cari, Matt, Marty, Amy, Kyle and Danny; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Jones of Springfield.
Birb was a lifelong resident of Riverton. He drove a gasoline truck for Carl Carter Agency for 40 years.
He was a member of St. James Church in Riverton and Knights of Columbus 3914. His love was his family and also the Riverton Athletic Club, which he was a member of for over 60 years. His family and friends will remember him as a die-hard Cincinnati Reds Fan.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, at St. James Church in Riverton, with the Rev. Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Riverton Athletic Club.
