SPRINGFIELD – Robert Bob C. Neville, 81, of Springfield passed away at home at 8:51 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009, with his family at his bedside.
He was born August 27, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio. His mother, Garnet Watson Neville and his adopted father, Lem Neville preceded him in death. He married Ethellynn Knowski on May 4, 1990.
He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Diana Lehmann and one stepson, Daryl Lehmann.
Bob was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2008 and served as correspondent for the Macon County Voiture 287. He had the honor of serving as Grand Chef du Illinois for La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux.
He worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation where he retired in 1990 after 33 years of service.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Rory Neville, Kathy (husband, Jim) Wright, Gordon (wife, Barbara) Neville, Mike (wife, Barb) Neville, Phil (friend, Teresa Valdez) Neville, Zoe Heyen, and Leza (husband, Darryl) Long; stepson, Brian (wife, Jennifer) Lehmann; 9 grandsons; 8 granddaughters; 6 great-grandsons; and 3 great-granddaughters.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home.
