Robert Wayne “Bob” Carpenter, 66, of Riverton, IL formerly of Springfield died at his home on Saturday, April 14, 2012. He was born on July 15, 1945 in Tuscola, IL to Wayne and Gertrude Malensky Carpenter.
Mr. Carpenter retired from the Illinois State Police. He loved Harley Davidsons and was a NASCAR and CUBS fan. He loved his family. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Surviving are three daughters, Tana (Will) Hupp of Springfield, Rhonda Merritt of Riverton and Kelly (Cory) Wilson of Springfield, four grandchildren, Tara Hupp, Ryan and Adam Merritt and Rayven Williams, two great grandchildren, Makayla and Brooklynn.
Preceding him in death were his parents and four grandchildren, Ryan, Elizabeth, William and Robert Hupp.
Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
