Robert “Bob” Lee Baker, 85, of Riverton, died at 3:15 pm, Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born November 5, 1928 in Anderson, IN to Phillip and Gretta Stanley Baker. He married Mary Anne Gedney on August 27, 1955 and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Steven (Laura) Baker of Spaulding and Jeff Baker of Springfield; two grandchildren, Aimee (Lyle) Craft and Corey (Alea) Baker; four great grandchildren, Jeremy and Jordan Craft and Aubrey and Hayden Baker; one niece; one nephew and two cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Schmitz and his step-father, Eldo Becknell.
Bob was a US Navy Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the Graphic Arts Department for the Illinois State Journal Register and retired after thirty-six years.
Visitation: 10-11 am Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
