Robert “Bob” G. Hoffek, 70, of Sherman, died 4:45 a.m., Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his home. He was born August 29, 1943 in Granite City to Rudolph and Helen Balent Hoffek. His mother, Helen Hoffek and sister- in- law, Judy Hoffek preceded him in death. He married Karen L. King on June 4, 1966 and she survives.

Also surviving are his father, Rudolph Hoffek of Glen Carbon; two daughters, Angel L. Hoffek and Nicole (Edgar) Morris both of Columbia, SC; one son, Brian Hoffek of Springfield; four grandchildren, Lucy and Jack Morris and Sam and Wes Hoffek; one brother, Lawrence Hoffek of Vandalia; sister and brother-in-law, Leonard and Betty Seiler of Girard and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University where he played varsity baseball. He was the owner and operator of Frontier Adjusters Claim Service retiring in 2005 and was a former teacher and coach at Girard and LaSalle Peru Schools. He was former trustee of the Sherman Village Board, former member of the Sherman Planning Commission and was an active parishioner and usher at St. John Vianney Church. Bob was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was also the executive director and co-founder of North County Teen Court and was awarded the 2010 Sherman Distinguished Citizen award for his work with the North County Teen Court. Bob was inducted into Granite City baseball Hall of Fame in 2009.

Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.

Lie in State: 9:00-10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The family request memorial contributions may be made to North County Teen Court Scholarship Fund or Memorial Home Hospice.
