Richard F. Jensen, age 83, of Springfield, died at 5:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012. He was born January 11, 1929 in Monmouth, IL to Peter and Frances Farrell Jensen. Richard was a devoted and loving husband to Kathleen Corrigan. They married on Aug. 6, 1951 and remained married until her death on January 25th, 2012.
Richard was the proud and loving father of 4 daughters. He is preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Kathy Jensen-Senegal. Surviving daughters, grandchildren and other family include, Kristin (Partner: Marcia Inman) Jensen of Eugene, OR, Michelle McWilliams of Petersburg and Maureen (Steven) McIntyre of Springfield; five grandchildren: Mary Kate, Sean and Molly McIntyre and Meghan and Paige McWilliams and several nieces and nephews.
Richard proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and came home to Springfield where he and Kathleen raised their family. He was an active member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and a valued employee of Central Illinois Public Service until his retirement in 1994.
Gathering: 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6:45 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Rev. Peter Harman officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
