Richard “Dick” High, 66, of Springfield, died at 7:54 am, Sunday, January 6, 2019 at his home. He was born May 7, 1952 in Clinton, IL to Edward and Ethel (Stewart) High. He married Danette Bailey on February 2, 2002 and she survives.
Survivors include, wife, Danette High; three children, Dawn (Frank) Beazlie of Deleon Springs, FL, Richard Edward High of Springfield and Douglas (Sarah) Ingram of Medford, OR; three grandchildren, Abbey High, Bailey High, and Gentry Beazlie; one sister, Carlene (Bob) Cutshaw of Redlands, CA; one brother, Jim (Belinda) High of Kenney, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dick was a resident of Springfield since 1969, formerly of Riverside, CA. He worked for Memorial Behavioral Health for 24 years as a maintenance technician. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed motorcycles and classic cars.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life from 4-7 pm, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 745 Woodside Road, Springfield, IL, 62711 with a Memorial Service being held at 4:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Behavioral Health or Simmons Cancer Institute.
