Rex Alan Alexander, 56, of Sherman, died at 8:25 am, Monday, January 30, 2012 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born July 19, 1955 in Springfield, to Richard and Rosemary Spengler Alexander. He married Debra Yocom on October 20, 1989.
Survivors include his wife, daughter Victoria, son Chase, parents, one brother, Richard (wife: Karen) of Rochester, one sister, Risa (husband: Joseph) Sandoval of Jackson, WY, two nephews, Jusup and Colby Sandoval, and one great-nephew, Kaden Sandoval. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be missed by Portia.
His son, Joshua preceded him in death.
He was a 1973 graduate of Rochester High School. He attended the University of Illinois and received a degree in Accounting in 1977.
Rex enjoyed traveling with his family, taking camping trips and going to Cardinal baseball games. He thoroughly enjoyed being an active part of his children’s lives. He was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. Rex achieved the rank of Eagle Scout early in his life. He also served the community as a former board member of both SPARC and Triangle Center.
He was a self-employed Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner. Rex was a member of AICPA.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, February 2, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, February 3, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield with Pastor Ladd Sonnenberg officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery near Sherman.
