Reba Lucile Nesbit Taylor died at 9:25 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born April 18, 1914 in Creal Springs, Illinois to Willis W. and Flossie E. Smith Shepherd. She married Donald A. Nesbit in 1933 and he died in 1966. She married Marion E. Taylor in 1972 and he died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers Landis and Donald Shepherd and 1 daughter Jeanine ‘Jan’ Schrader.
Reba is survived by one daughter Karen Fletcher of Sherman; one son Dr. Fred (Roselyn) Nesbit of Dixon, IL; two step-sons, Terry (Tracie) Taylor of Petersburg and Ron Taylor; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins
Mrs. Taylor graduated from Illinois College in 1971. She was a teacher at Christian Elementary School in Springfield and a substitute teacher in Naperville. She was a crew leader in the 1960 Census, Sales representative for Avon and coordinated television surveys for Arbitron.
She had been a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school superintendent at West Side Christian Church where she had been a member since 1933. She also was a member of First Christian Church in Naperville. Reba was a member of Mensa. She loved writing and had several stories published. She sewed, played piano and was on a bowling league for many years.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Monday, January 3, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 10 am, Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
