SPRINGFIELD – Raymond Winford Windy Booth, 80, of Springfield died at 12:39 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born April 28, 1928, in Athens, the son of Henry and Nannie Davis Booth. He married Anna Ludene Beggs on June 17, 1950.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gladys Logan; and two brothers, Tommie and Dick Booth.
Mr. Booth grew up in Litchfield, Ky. He moved back to Springfield as a young man.
He was a partner with Myrus Beggs in their company, Booth & Beggs Excavating from September 1961 until their retirement at the end of 1996.
He was a member of First Church of God since October 1959. His hobbies included a lifelong love of raccoon hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Ludene; two daughters, Joyce (Richard) Borrenpohl and Janet Anderson; four sons, Randy (Debbie), Jack (Joleen), Rick (Faymel) and Ray (Diane) Booth Jr.; a son-in-law, Donald (LeAnne) Carver; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Dorothy Carwile of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Remains will lie-in-state from 10 until time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at First Church of God, with Pastor Jay Kroft officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
