Raymond J. Minch, age 89, died suddenly Friday, June 3, 2016 in Springfield, IL. He was born September 23, 1926 in New Berlin, to Frank M. and Rosella (Bergschneider) Minch. Raymond married Marguerite Frank on July 9, 1966 at St. Mary’s Church in New Berlin. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Frank E. Minch.
Surviving are his wife, Marguerite; two sisters, Mrs. F.A. (Eda) Johnson of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Thomas (Rosemary) Fuchs and a brother, Walter H. Minch, both of Springfield.
Raymond was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Berlin where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4371. He attended Springfield College in Illinois. Additionally, he was engaged in agriculture for many years in the New Berlin area and was a member of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau. Raymond was a Veteran of the United States Army serving the European Theatre from 1951-1953. Other memberships included the American Legion Post #743, New Berlin and the Jacksonville Country Club.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at St. Mary’s Church in New Berlin with Reverend Kevin Laughery officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
