SPRINGFIELD – Ray M. Barnosky, age 95, of Springfield, IL, died at his home at 8:30 am, Sunday, April 18, 2010.

He was born on July 24, 1914 in Christopher, IL to Peter and Julia Gent Barnosky. He married Mary Alice Evans on January 23, 1937 and she preceded him in death on November 13, 1995. Also preceding him in death were his parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, daughter Janet Kay Barnosky and son Duane Barnosky. A Springfield resident most of his life, he worked as a delivery man for Vess Bottling Company, Allis Chalmers and owned and operated Ray’s Electric Works as a licensed electrical contractor. He wired his last home at age 92.
He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and Sunday car rides. He was a master gardener and was a golden glove boxer and loved Lithuanian Polkas. His favorite activity was working in his workshop with his best buddy Mitch.
He is survived by 4 daughters; Delores Barnosky of Florida, Rosalee (Dennis) Crady of Secor, IL, Judy M. Barnosky and Marlus S. (Larry) Kasper both of Springfield, 2 sons; Robert E. (Jo) Barnosky of Springfield and Peter R. (Terri) Barnosky of New Berlin, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honoring the wishes of Ray’s humble heart there will be a private graveside service at Oak Ridge Cemetery with family only.
