Ramon M. “Ray” Menendez, Jr., 50, of Springfield, died at 10:18 am, Monday, April 2, 2018. He was born June 26, 1967, in Springfield, to Ramon and Lynnie Mae (Rhodes) Menendez, Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Lynnie Menendez; one sister, Tammy Lynn (Greg) Dawson of Chatham; two nephews, Christopher (Jessica) Dawson and Alexander (Ava) Dawson; several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2014.
Ray was a member of The ANSAR Shrine; Knights of Columbus Devereux Heights and the Roman Cultural Society.
He retired from the State of Illinois Department of Corrections in June of 2017.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Friday, April 6, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Richard Chiola officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner Children’s Hospital; St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Mini O’Beirne Crisis Nursery.
