SPRINGFIELD – Phyllis E. Nelson, 64, a resident of Springfield since 1974, died at 11:48 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at her home, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born April 14, 1945, in Springfield, the daughter of the Rev. George E. and Lola M. Davis Ford. She married the Rev. Frank Nelson on April 9, 1976.
Her parents and two brothers, Larry and Keith Ford, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nelson graduated from Warren High School in 1963. She retired in July 2009 from Hanson Information Systems as an accountant and formerly owned and operated Phyleen Drapery Shop.
She was a member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church. She was formerly affiliated and a founding member of the 1st Day Fund. She enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished pianist.
Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Frank Nelson of Springfield; a son, David (Patricia) Olmstead of Springfield; three grandchildren, John, Jeremiah and Brandy; a sister, Linda (Robert Buck) Buckles of Loami; a brother, Bob (Karen) Ford of Springfield; an aunt; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be there at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, with Pastor Mike Keppler officiating. Burial will be in Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010.
