Peggy Bosie Smith,
SPRINGFIELD – Peggy Bosie Smith, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died at 2:43 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born in Springfield, the daughter of Roland and Mildred Anning Monroe. She married William D. Bosie in 1938; he preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Douglas Smith. Her parents and a son, William D. Bosie Jr., also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith was a waitress and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. She retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Surviving are her husband, Douglas Smith of Springfield; four daughters, Mary Ellen Davis, Linda Spangler and Jo Anne (companion, Jerry) Wendling, all of Springfield, and Kathy (husband, Greg) Boston of Riverton; three sons, James (companion, Laura) Bosie and Daniel (wife, Sheryl) Bosie, both of Springfield, and Steven (wife, Lou) Bosie of Sherman; stepchildren, Marietta Kuhl, Carla Hilmes, Karen Jansen and Timothy and Jeffrey Smith, all of Breese; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home, with Robert Green officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
