Pauline B. Ballard, 90, of Springfield, died Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. She was born September 25, 1926 in Brownstown, IL to Paul and Ethel (Scoles) Rush. She married Maurice Ballard, Sr. on November 9, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2010.
Surviving are one son, Paul (Lisa) Ballard of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Helen Ballard of Michigan; son-in-law, Charles Nerone of Champaign; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; half-sister, Mildred “Mike” Hance of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Jean Nerone; son, Maurice “Butch” Ballard, Jr. and two grandsons, Nathaniel Deniz and Cody Harrison Ballard.
Pauline was a lifelong member of St. Cabrini Church. She retired from Springfield School District 186 where she worked in the kitchen for many years. She also worked for Kmart. Pauline loved to sew.
Visitation: A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of services at 10 am, Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dear loved one. Please accept my condolences at this painful time. Losing a loved one is distressing and as comfort is needed from family and friends, we have assurance from the Bible that "death will be swallowed up forever" at Isaiah 25:8.
