Paul “Roy” Jenkins, 72, of Sherman died at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 17, 1941 in Sumner, MO to Maurice “Jack” and Hazel I. Penick Jenkins. He married Victoria “Vicki” Winchell on September 27, 1968 and she survives. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Sharon Whitmore; one niece, Teresa Carson and mother-in-law, Millicent Winchell.
Mr. Jenkins was a member of Sherman United Methodist Church. He loved football, spending time with his family and was an avid Mizzou fan. He belonged to the Brookfield, MO Quarterback Club and Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of MO. He was inducted into the IHSA Coaches Hall of Fame in March 1996. He retired from teaching at Williamsville High School in 2003 and founded the Williamsville Football program in 1971 where he coached for 32 years.
Surviving are his wife, Vicki of Sherman; three daughters, Jennifer Jenkins, Liz (Aaron) Kunz both of Sherman and Shari Petersen of Alaska; several grandchildren, including Seth and Elyse Kunz; father-in-law, Harry Winchell of McKinney, TX; a brother, Phillip (Louise) Jenkins of Topeka, KS; sister-in-law, Marjorie (James) Yancey of Plano, TX; a brother-in-law, James Whitmore of St. Joseph, MO and nieces and nephews, Susan Jenkins, Jima Whitmore , Matthew Yancey, Julianne Rader, Matthew Rader, and Jake Carson.
Memorial Gathering: 4 – 7 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Sherman United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Sweet officiating.
