Paul V. "Paulie" Estes

Paul “Paulie” V. Estes, 72, died at 10:17 am, on September 9, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on May 3, 1945, in Springfield to Paul Junior and Norma (Pearson) Estes, and they preceded him in death. He married Sharon Kincaid on October 6, 1963, and she preceded him in death in 1993. He married Elaine Welch on October 2, 1998, and she survives.

Survivors include five children: Paul (Alison) Estes of Cincinnati, OH, Greg Estes, Teresa (Jerry) Rouse, Michael Estes, and Mackenzie Estes, all of Springfield, nine grandchildren: Paul, Matthew, Shane and Garrett Estes, Greg and Krista Estes and Lyndsay, Lacey and Lexy Truter; five great-grandchildren: Ryleigh, James, Gabbi, Cameron and Kylie; six siblings: Beverly (Dick) Harris, Gary (Robin) Estes, Bob (Janice) Estes, and Pam (Carlos) Clemente, all of Springfield, Karen Norris of Dawson, and Barb (Charles) Bumgarner of NC, sister-in-law Mary Estes of Pleasant Plains, one uncle and aunt, Ray and Betty Estes, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Beth Estes, brother, Ronnie Estes and sister, Judith Curley, and brother-in-law Roger Norris.

Paul was a retired Operating Engineer for Local #965. Upon retirement, he continued his passion for small engine repair by serving family, friends, and the local community until his death. Paulie was a diehard Cubs fan. He was a member of the Aqua Sports Club, an avid horseshoe and shuffleboard player, who also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was most happy at home spending time with his friends and family, especially his great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm Friday, September 15, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Christopher House officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael and Mackenzie Educational Fund through Marine Bank in Springfield, Illinois or the National Kidney Foundation.
