SPRINGFIELD – Paul J. Hustava, 86, of Springfield died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born March 13, 1923, in Gillespie, the son of Paul and Mildred Paluda Hustava. He married Rita Turley on Oct. 19, 1947.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Rita J. Hustava of Springfield; two sons, Stephen J. Hustava of Laguna, N.M., and David C. Hustava (companion: Gina Growe) of Springfield; a granddaughter, Ashley Hustava; a sister, Mary Hustava of Glen Carbon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was a resident of Springfield since 1952. He worked for L&L Heating and Cooling and Combined Insurance.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving during World War II. He was an avid gardener and fisherman, and he loved canoeing.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sylvester Weatherall officiating.
Private burial will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Kumler United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
