Paul E. Vose, 85, of Springfield, died at 4:34 am, Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born on December 12, 1932 in Springfield to John William and Hedwig (Krebs) Vose. He married Lorraine Cookey on September 13, 1952 and she preceded him in death on January 11, 1999.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cathy Anderson; five sisters, Elaine, Marie Caswell, Marilyn Husemann, Martha Sullivan and Gloria Johnstone; three brothers, David, John and James.
He is survived by two daughters, Paula (Dean) Bailey of Springfield and Lori of Chicago; son, Brian of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren, Ashleigh (Justin) Miller, Chrissy (Zach) Rovey, Casey (Gordon) Painter, Dean, Dustin, Dirk and Drake Bailey; one great grandson, Gordon Ray III, on the way; one sister, Irene (Larry) George of Springfield; two brothers, Robert of Springfield and Harold (Jean) of Batavia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from AT&T after 43 years of employment. Following retirement, he worked at Greenview Nursery. Paul enjoyed porch-sitting, coffee drinking and working puzzle books.
Visitation: 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities or The Salvation Army.

I regret that I wasn't able to attend the service. Uncle Paul was one of my favorites. He always had a smile and a kind word. He will be missed.
