SPRINGFIELD – Paul Dean Weller Jr., 86, of Springfield died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born April 6, 1923, in Stanley, Wis., the son of Paul Dean and Mary Dorn Weller Sr.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by three daughters, Lisa Weller of Springfield, Terri (Christopher) Izzo of Buffalo, N.Y., and Janice Weller of Phoenix; and two grandchildren, Nicole (John) Mlynczak and Gina Izzo.
Paul lived in Springfield for most of his life. He was a retired plant manager at Fiatallis.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II in the 252nd Army Engineers, and he attended 48 army reunions. He also was a member of the Springfield Art Association, Loess Gem and Mineral Club and Fiatallis Management Club. He was a former member of Springfield Ski and Boat Club. Paul enjoyed rock hounding, creating stained glass pieces and making jewelry.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Graveside services at noon on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
