Paul A. Lang, 85, of Springfield, passed away at 2:04 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born May 10, 1932 in St. Louis, MO to John and Eleanor (Bergman) Lang.

Paul was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. After the war, he attended Saint Louis University graduating with a degree in engineering. He worked for the United States Post Office as a Regional Post Master on the financial side for over 30 years.

Paul then moved to Florida where he spent most of his retirement playing golf and tennis. Within the last two years he moved back to Springfield to be closer to his family. He had a passion for reading American history books.

He is survived by his four children, Diane (Kevin) Crumly of Springfield, Michael (Nancy) Lang of St. Louis, MO, Paul (Kady) Lang of LaGrange, IL, and Margaret (Ken) Masters of St. Louis, MO, mother of his children, Jane Lettich of St. Louis, MO, and eleven grandchildren: David, Erin, and Colleen Crumly, Brittany (Brian) Smith, Courtney (Zach) Smith, Jenny, and Becca Lang, Matthew and Michael Lang, and Nicole and Jeffrey Masters; two brothers, John Lang of St. Louis, MO and Jim (Nancy) Lang also of St. Louis as well as several nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rob Lang; sisters, Rosemary Dolan and Eleanor Hayes; second wife Miriam “Mitzi” Rubenstein Lang; and fiancée Patti Hildebrandt.

Visitation: 11:30am – 1:00pm, Monday, February 5, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.

Funeral Service: 1:00pm, Monday, February 5, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
