Orville Baker, Jr., 86, of Riverton died at 1:48 AM, Friday, August 4, 2017, at his home. He was born on May 7, 1931 in Jacksonville to Orville and Emily (DeMenzes) Baker, Sr. He married Frances May (Norris) Alcorn on August 10, 1966 and she survives.

Survivors include Orville’s wife, Frances Baker; one daughter, Lana (Tony) Laughhunn of Sherman; one daughter-in-law, Joan Davis of Champaign; one son, David (Rita) Baker of Riverton; seven grandchildren, Zachary Davis of Fort Worth, TX, Mackenzie Davis of Waverly, TN, Nathaniel Laughhunn of Williamsville, Jacob Laughhunn of Quincy, Caleb and Joshua Laughhunn both of Sherman, and Simon Baker of Riverton.

Preceding him in death are his parents and one son, Earl Francis Davis.

Orville was a United States Army Veteran, who served during the Korean War Era.
He retired from the State of Illinois, Department of Mental Health after 20 years of service, and was a resident of Riverton for 35 years.

Orville was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, boxing, cooking, reading, and was very artistic. He was a peacemaker and a former Golden Gloves boxer. He also enjoyed his sweets and was a very good father and grandfather.

Visitation: 11 am – 12 pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield.

Funeral Service: 12 pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield with Pastor Tony Laughhunn officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society or the American Diabetes Association.
