SPRINGFIELD – Norma J. Miller, 81, of Springfield died at 10:07 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1928, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, the daughter of
Richard James and Helen Bentz Finney. She married Max K. Miller on Dec. 29, 1951, at St. Paul Church in Macomb.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Finney; mother, Helen Nugent; and grandmother, Lilly P. Bentz.
She is survived by her husband, Max K. Miller of Springfield; a daughter, Jayne Miller of Springfield; two sons, Richard (Debbie) Miller of Springfield and Randall (Maryann) Miller of Germantown, Tenn.; and her German Shepherd, Aiko.
Norma was a resident of Springfield for most of her life. She was employed by the state of Illinois Secretary of State in the Accounting/Revenue Department, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority-Percepter Upsilon Chapter for 60 years. She was active in PTA, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Little League. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society. Norma enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle, and making ceramics.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home, with Charles L. Lee officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Animal Protective League.
