Nora Mildred “Millie? Woodrum-Collins, 94, of Springfield, formerly of Havana, died at 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born March 4, 1916 in Havana, IL, the daughter of Frank C. and Della M. Leonard Woodard. She was first married to Paul “Pete? Woodrum and he preceded her in death in 1982. She then married Donald E. Collins and he preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, one grandson Larry Woodley, three brothers and one sister.
Nora is survived by her daughter Margo (Terry) Collins of Springfield, her son DuWayne “Rednose? Woodley of Havana, a Step daughter Edie (Dick) Bruder of Pekin, nine grandchildren, Brian Collins, D’Arlus Collins, Melanie (Randy) Lindsay, Sandy Collins, Debbie Gregory, June (Dave) McCurdy, Tammie (Dennis) Conover, Rick (Penny) Bruder and Roger (Jolene) Bruder, 16 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nora was a charter member of Parkway Christian Church and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Havana. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 6408 in Havana, AARP, and a member of Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed camping, gardening, and crocheting. She retired in 1979 after 15 years of service as the Department Head of Housekeeping at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
