Nicholas Bartolomucci, 88, of Springfield died at 7:40 am, Monday, May 30, 2011 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born February 8, 1923 in Springfield, Illinois to Antonio and Assunta “Susie” Ursini Bartolomucci. He married Mary A. Kennedy on February 14, 1948 and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2005. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Michael, Dario and Tony Bartolomucci; a son-in-law, Daniel Freeman and three sisters, Pearl Renetsky, Alvira Bommarito and Pat Bonansinga.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Bartolomucci of Springfield, Deborah Freeman of Chatham and Renee (David) Burkum of Springfield; one son, Nicholas J. Bartolomucci, II of Springfield; five grandchildren; one sister, Rosalie (Joe) Ballog of Irvine, CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nicholas was a member of Church of the Little Flower and Carpenters Local #16.
He serviced in the U S. Army during WWII and also served in the National Guard.
Funeral Service: Private family graveside services were held at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Sister Maira Berry officiating and with Military Honors conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
