Nellie Mae Bredemeyer, 72, of Springfield, died at 3:34 pm, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born July 23, 1938 in Greenville, IL to Samuel A. and Lillian B. Vincent Norlander. She married Emil “Doc” Bredemeyer on July 31, 1993 and he survives.
Also surviving are three daughters; Diane “Dee” Smith, Carrie Smith and Margaret “Boony” Luparell all of Springfield; two sons, Jim (Lauralee) Smith and Kevin Smith both of Springfield; twelve grandchildren; Kimberly Smith, Kathleen Smith, Danny Smith, Rebecca Poffenberger, Ricky Poffenberger, Jenifer Schmidgall, Rachel Boehme, Michael Boehme, Angela Sipe, Bailey Smith, Giovanni Luparell and Dominic Luparell; one brother, Charlie Norlander of Wyoming and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Jimmy Smith V and one brother Carl Norlander.
Nellie was a resident of Springfield for 40 years and retired from the State of Illinois comptroller’s office. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 32.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Monday, May 16, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at St. Aloysius Church with Rev. Tom Donovan officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smith Family Scholarship in care of Little League Baseball.
