Nedra L. Barron, 86, of Springfield died at 9:12 am, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born October 27, 1930 in Wood River, IL to Fred and Helen (Armstrong) Killam. She married Louis Barron on December 26, 1964 and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2011.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Barron (Julie Alexander) of Springfield; special loved one, Paula Parsons of Pelham, GA; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Barron of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Nedra graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School as well as Illinois State University. She was formerly employed as an educator at Dubois Elementary School in Springfield for thirteen years. She also worked in the Wood River/Hartford School District as a substitute teacher for 12 years.
She was a member of Southside Christian Church and formerly Bethalto First Christian Church. Nedra was also a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Visitation: 11am – 1pm, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 1 pm, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home -Springfield with Pastor Adam Lanter officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
