Nancy Kay Vieira Rowe, 71, of Rochester, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born November 23, 1949, in Springfield, the daughter of Tony and Mildred Wilkerson Vieira. She married Dennis Brian Rowe on October 5, 1973 and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Heather (Dewayne) Collins and Sara Coe; one son, Joe Rowe; four granddaughters, Laura, Lydia, Caroline, and Adelaide; one sister, Sue (Charlie) Reiser; two nieces, Valarie (George) Bianan and Wendy Reiser; two nephews, Tony and Michael Vieira; and sister-in-law, Angie Wollensen.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Marilyn Vieira; brother, David Vieira; and sister-in-law, Janice Rowe.
Nancy was a resident of Springfield all her life. She graduated from Feitshans High School in 1967 and then continued her studies at Lincoln Land Community College. She spent most of her career working as an IT specialist for CIPS/Ameren Illinois. She serviced their computers all over central Illinois for 34 years.
Nancy was baptized into Christ on November 28, 1962. She attended Lakeside Church of Christ and was an active member, continually looking to serve others. She cherished her time as a pre-K Bible school teacher. Her face would light up when the small children would toddle through the door. And it brought her so much joy when they would continue to come visit her as they grew. Every winter, she would invite any child (or adult) that wanted to make a gingerbread house for the Festival of Trees to her home to build and decorate their creations. It was not uncommon for her to contribute more than 30 gingerbread houses.
Nancy loved traveling, fast cars, cultivating a garden full of flowers, and spending as much time on the beach as possible.
Her family meant the world to her and she could make anyone feel like family.
