SPRINGFIELD – Mildred V. Brown, 97, of Springfield died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 27, 1911, in Clay, Ky., the daughter of Forest and Lelia Harris Townsend.
She married Paul Brown in 1941; he preceded her in death in 1992.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Billie Shoulders in 1995; a daughter, Norma June Cole in 1999; a grandson, Paul Lee Cole; and a sister, Lorene Hatley.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Billy Ray Cole of Greenview, Debra J. Johnson of San Diego and Townsend Shoulders of Springfield; several great and great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Pat Shoulders of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and a half-sister, Ruth Baker of Springfield.
Mildred was a resident of Springfield most of her life. She worked on the assembly line and in the office at Sangamo Electric for 30 years.
She was a member of Kumler United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Florene Scott officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Kumler United Methodist Church.
