SPRINGFIELD – Mildred Rose Broyles died on Tuesday, June 23, at Heritage Manor.
Mrs. Broyles was born in 1925, the daughter of Emma and William McGuire. She was blessed with three sisters and six brothers. All but one brother preceded her in death. In 1944 Mildred married Ray (Lorris Raymond) Broyles. The couple was inseparable until Ray’s death in 2004. They loved to travel and especially enjoyed their retirement winters in Naples, Fl.
Mildred loved flowers and her gardens were beautiful. She was a consummate hostess, always putting people at ease. Mildred worked for Sears Roebuck for 25 years. She was manager of the housewares dept. and when the store moved to the mall she was a top salesperson in electronics. Mildred was an extremely caring person, babysitting her three grandchildren, nursing her elderly in-laws, Lorris and Laura Broyles, and visiting her husband Ray daily while he was in a nursing home. Battling poor health for the last several years, she never failed to have a smile and a good word.
Mildred is survived by a brother, Paul McGuire, of New Berlin, IL as well as two daughters, Pam (Glenn) Davis of Glendale, AZ, and Corrine (Ethan Lewis) Frisch of Springfield; three granddaughters, Kersten Davis of Phoenix, AZ, Krista (Scott) Besst of Bay Point, CA, and Nora Frisch of Plymouth, MI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with a funeral service at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, Deacon Ben Hoefler officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities.
