Mildred “Millie” B. Hanson, 101, of Springfield, went to meet her creator at 6:00 pm, on Monday, May 6, 2013 at River Birch Senior Living. She was born April 9, 1912 in Hull, Illinois to Joseph McClennon Miller and Stella Susan Milhizer Miller. Millie married Eugene H. Hanson December 11, 1947 in Phoenix, AZ. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2005.
Millie always worked. She worked two jobs during WWII and was especially proud of her work at the Remington Rand Ammunitions Plant in Illiopolis. The last several years, she worked at Springfield Blue Print with her husband.
She was past President of LaFore Lock’s Auxiliary Post 755 and past 10th District President, also, past President of Mary Todd Lincoln #48, Department President, and Women’s Relief Corp Stevenson #17.
Millie had a great appreciation of nature and spent many hours in her yard with her flower, butterflies and squirrels.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nettie Barnes; two brothers, Russell and Clifford Miller.
She will be greatly missed by her family whom she loved and who loved her dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Trudy (Steve) Wakefield of Williamsville; grandchildren, Jennifer Walsh of Williamsville, Kevin of Williamsville and Michael of Carbondale and great grandchildren, Austin, Claire and Samantha Walsh all of Williamsville.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, May 10, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
