Merle L. Seaver
SPRINGFIELD ” Merle L. Seaver, 77, of Springfield, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born January 2, 1930 in Burns, WY, the son of Earl and Mary Zitek Seaver. He married Louise L. Shepherd on September 9, 1994. His parents; one sister, Barbara Krantz; and one son, John Seaver, preceded him in death.
Mr. Seaver retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years, where he proudly served his country during the Berlin Airlift, Cold War, and in Vietnam. He also was an aircraft mechanic for Garrett Aviation for 17 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Southside Christian Church, VFW Post 10302, and American Legion Post 32.
Survivors: wife, Louise L. Seaver of Springfield; three daughters, Gail (husband, Eric) Adamski of Petersburg, Melanie (husband, Walter) Westfall of Springfield, and Chris Seaver of Denver, CO; three stepdaughters, Kathryn Hobbs of Springfield, Karen (husband, Mark) Ritterbusch of Rochester, and Beth Garrett of Springfield; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan (husband, Muriel) Gatling of Rio Rancho, NM; one brother, Larry (wife, Mary) Seaver of Cheyenne, WY; one aunt, Josephine Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Southside Christian Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9, 2007. Lie-in-State: 10:00-10:30 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2007 at Southside Christian Church. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2007 at Southside Christian Church, Jeff Chitwood and Robert Green officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the United States Air Force will conduct military honors. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
