Melvin R. Green, 75, of Springfield, died at 8:32 am, Sunday, November 17, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born August 15, 1938 in Springfield, to Harry and Margaret Nichols Green. He married Freida Stull in 1955 and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda (Dan) Mickle of Springfield, Janet Moscardelli of Riverton and Patricia Troyer of Springfield; three grandchildren, George Nelson, Benjamin Moscardelli and Tony Moscardelli; five great grandchildren; one sister, Debbie (Art) Beaudoin of Palmyra, WI and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Ida Mae Green; two brothers, Harry “Bud” Green and Richard Green and one son-in-law, Victor Moscardelli.
Melvin was a member of Third Presbyterian Church; Springfield Masonic Lodge #4, Ansar Shrine and The Eagles Club. He was a NASCAR fan and loved spending time with his friends and vacationing in Florida. He retired from Central Illinois Light Company, where he worked in building services.
