Matthew D. Stephens

Matthew D. Stephens, 21, of Springfield, died at 10:37 am, Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born August 22, 1994 in Springfield, to Michael Wahl and Courtney Stephens.

He is survived by his father, Michael Wahl of Springfield; mother, Courtney Stephens of Springfield; half brothers and sister, Keegan Ludwig, MacKenzie Wahl, Michael Wahl, Jr. and Gage Wahl, all of Springfield; Grandparents; Mary Linda Stephens of Springfield and Cheryn Lawson of TX; great grandfather, Carl Biesenthal of Mt. Olive; three aunts, including Megan Stephens, Abigail Stephens and Dawn Grant, all of Springfield; several cousins; his girlfriend, Sierra Harrison of Springfield and his cat Harry.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Murrel Stephens and Henry Wahl; great grandmother, Theresa Biesenthal and great aunt Donna Kinzora.

Matthew was formerly a resident of Alameda, CA and moved to Springfield during High School where he graduated from Southeast High School. Matthew was currently working for Rosati’s Pizza and Stephens Brothers Painting and Paper Hanging. He loved camping, being around family and enjoyed family functions. His main passion was cooking and he did it well.

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Friday, August 26, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield.
