MaryAnn Gorney, 75, of Springfield died at 1:30 pm, Monday, October 30, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Home. She was born on April 25, 1942 in Chicago, to Vince and Rita (Bertoletti) Sola. She grew up in the Rosalind Community in Chicago. She married Victor “Vic” Gorney on April 11, 1964 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2007. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and three brothers, Vince, Rich and Harry Sola.
Surviving are four daughters, Vicki (Tom) Romenesko of Sauk City, WI, Sandy (Amy Russell) Gorney and Melissa Gorney, both of Springfield and Lori (Clay) Evers of Sacramento, CA; six grandchildren, Joseph and Angelica Romenesko, Madison Gorney, Mae and Vincent Evers and Alexandria Russell; one sister, Lou Ann (Dennis) Pretto of Oak Park, IL; 5 brothers, Gerald (Debbie) Sola of Orland Park, Louis Sola of Panama, Steven (Janet) Sola of Downers Grove, Chuck (Susan) Sola of Seattle, WA and Michael Sola of Chicago and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She worked for many Bishops and Priests for over 40 years in the Diocese of Springfield and was honored with a diocesan award for her dedicated service in 2013.
Visitation: 4 – 8 pm, Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm. A second visitation will be held from 12 – 12:45 pm, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Funeral Mass: A concelebrated funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to PAWS in Jacksonville or St. Joseph’s Home.
