Mary Virginia Moore
SPRINGFIELD – Mary Virginia Moore, 83, of Springfield, died Friday, June 29, 2007 at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born October 26, 1923 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Norman and Rose Leutenmeyer McAdams. She married Bill Moore on June 26, 1945. Her parents; one sister, Rose Cannata Hassiepen; one infant son; and one infant grandson preceded her in death.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker. Her primary joy was wife, mother, and grandmother. She formerly worked for SCI. She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Cathedral Council of Catholic Women, Association for the Blind, and St. Louise de Marrillac. She was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and enjoyed reading and playing games.
Survivors: husband, Bill Moore of Springfield; five daughters, Sr. Peggy Moore, OSU of Crystal City, MO, Penny Swigert of Divernon, Denise (husband, Dave) Rau of Waukesha, WI, Barb (husband, Rick) Polic of Dawson, and Michelle (husband, Mark Smith) Moore of Kansas City, MO; five sons, David (wife, Jenny) Moore of Springfield, Kevin Moore of Decatur, AL, Brian (wife, Alice Armstrong) Moore of Springfield, Joe (wife, Nancy) Moore of Chatham, and Andrew Moore of Lexington, KY; eight grandchildren; and two nephews.
Memorials may be made to Ursuline Sisters Retirement Fund or Cathedral Grade School.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 1, 2007. Prayers: 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2007 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Reverend Michael Haag and Reverend Jim Gahan officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
