SPRINGFIELD – Mary V. Zock Schnepp, 91, of Springfield died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at Mary Lou’s Country Abode. She was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Springfield, the daughter of George and Josephine Howard Zock. She married Edwin C. Schnepp on Jan. 10, 1942; he preceded her in death on Dec, 13, 1972.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Kathryn Burnard and Cecilia Zock; brothers, Joseph A., John H., Francis E. and George J. Zock.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was a resident of Springfield for most of her life. She retired as a service adviser for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in 1979 after 27 years.
She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and traveling, and she loved her family and friends. She was Miss Popularity of Downtown Springfield in 1940.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with funeral mass beginning at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Michael Ewert, OFM, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
