Mary Margaret Kitchen
SPRINGFIELD – Mary Margaret Kitchen, 89, of Springfield, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born March 25, 1918 in Fancy Prairie, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Alice Coffee Allison. She married Lester Kitchen on March 15, 1948; he preceded her in death on May 10, 1984. Her parents; one brother, Robert Allison; and one stepson, Charles Kitchen, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Kitchen retired in 1986 from the Illinois Department of Public Aid and was also a homemaker. She was a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and sewing.
Survivors: one daughter, Anita Kitchen of Springfield; one stepdaughter, Maxine (husband, Howard) Rogers of Mechanicsburg; four sons, Clarence “Sonny” (wife, Donna) Yard, Thomas (wife, Peggy) Kitchen, Gary (wife, Diane) Kitchen, and Kenneth Kitchen, all of Springfield; 17 grandchildren; numerous grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Setina of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family requests donations to St. John’s Hospice.
Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Services: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2007, Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
