Mary Lu Wanless, 58, of Riverton, died at 6:25 pm, Monday, June 6, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 13, 1952 in Springfield to Anthony J. and Flora Fanale Pescitelli. She married Melvin “Roy” Wanless on January 16, 1971 and he survives. Also surviving are one daughter Angie Wanless of Springfield, two sons, Tony (Fiancé Amy Wirrick) Wanless of Springfield and Chad (Shelah) Wanless of Riverton; three grandsons Chad Jo (8) and Jayden (7) Wanless and Kemper Wanless expected in July, and a granddaughter Adina Viele (13); three sisters Teresa Nichols of Bay City, MI, Marilyn (Roger) Ray of Sherman and Antoinette (Don) Alton of Petersburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Lu was a member of St. James Church in Riverton. She loved to read and enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Mary Lu graduated from Lincoln Land Community College with a degree in nursing in 1984 and worked as a surgical nurse at Memorial Medical Center until 2007.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home. There will be a lie-in-state from 9-10 am Friday, June 10, 2011 at St. James Church in Riverton.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Friday, June 10, 2011 at St. James Church in Riverton with Reverend Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
