Mary Louise Jones, 73, of Springfield, died at 7:50 am, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born January 23, 1944 in Highland, Illinois to Jess and Elvera Jakel McKelley. She married Loyd Jones June 21, 1974 and he preceded her in death January 17, 2016.

Survivors include her brother Jess (Barb) McKelley, Jr. of Granite City; step-son, Scott Jones; grandson, Brandon Jones; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her much loved feline companion, Tiger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steven Willman and one sister, Evelyn.

Mary retired after 35 years of service from the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid where she worked as an Administrative Assistant.

She was a member of New Life Family Church in Auburn where she enjoyed Ladies Bible Study. She volunteered at Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach. She was a strong supporter of the Animal Protective League. Mary loved gardening and shopping.

Memorial Gathering and Celebration of Life: The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 am until the Celebration of Life at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 18, 2017 at New Life Family Church, 303 S. Clover Lane, Auburn with Pastor Larry Griffith officiating.

Private family burial will be at a later date at Marine Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
