Mary Lou McCurley, 79, of Springfield, died at 2:20 pm, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born January 2, 1932 in Springfield to Owen and Jane Wables Prytherch. She married Carl J. McCurley, Sr. in 1951 and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son Jerry McCurley, a brother Jackie Prytherch; a sister Doris Livingston
Mary Lou is survived by two daughters, Cindy McCurley of Springfield and Janet (Kenny) Griffin of Eldorado, IL; two sons Carl J. McCurley, Jr. of Springfield and Wayne McCurley of Eldorado, IL; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister Patty Jo (Rich) Murawski of Springfield; one brother Kenny Delaney of Lincoln and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Lou was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and worked as a waitress at the St. Nicholas Hotel and for Viele’s Lounge.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Monday, February 21, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Randy Zimmerlli officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
