Mary L. Smith, 77 of Springfield died at 3:05 pm, Thursday, January 23, 2014, at her home. She was born October 2, 1936 in Springfield to Giuseppe and Grace D’Angelo DiPasquale. She married Billy Lee Smith on July 27, 1957, and preceded her in death on October 26,. 1994. She is also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George DiPasquale, Rinaldo DiRoccio and John DiPasquale; three sisters, Josephine DiPasquale, Flora Esslinger, and Florence Leady.
Survivors include one daughter, Carrie L. Smith of Fortville, IN; three sons, William A. Smith of Pawnee, Joseph M. (Kim) Smith of Springfield and C. Douglas (Lisa) Smith of Prosper, TX; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Angie (Charles) Barber of Lebanon, TN; one brother, William (Mary Mae) DiPasquale of Mason City and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary worked at Bank One as a film clerk from 1993 until she retired. She was an LPN at St. John’s Hospital and Lincoln Land Dialysis Unit and was a hair dresser.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Church, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, working crosswords and spending time with her family.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014 at St. Aloysius Church with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
