Mary J. Martin, 96, of Springfield, died at 6:57 pm, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born July 11, 1921 in Chicago, to Joseph and Nina Bartolozzi. She married Alexander J. Martin on September 3, 1940 and he preceded her in death on August 25, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, James (Marilyn) Martin of Springfield and Alexander J. Martin of Peoria; five grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Terry) Myers, Stephanie (Rob) Danielson, Tracy Leka, Curt (April) Martin and Christopher (Jennifer) Martin; 9 great grandchildren; one sister, Alda Bretz of Springfield; one brother, John (Barbara) Bartolozzi of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Edith Saputo and Rena Yocom. Mary was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church. She worked as a waitress at Sangamo Club and Saputos.
The family will be hosting a memorial mass at 10 am, Friday, April 13, 2018 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, with Reverend Richard Chiola and Reverend Kevin Mann officiating.
