Mary Hughes Frenz, age 87 of Springfield, died at 3:35 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Regency Nursing Care Residence. She was born April 21, 1923 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Salvatore and Carolena Tomizoli Jiannoni. She married Richard A. Hughes in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1969. She married Edward ‘Jack’ Frenz in 1986 and he preceded her in death in 2009. She is also preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother: Joseph Jiannoni.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Barbara Hughes of Springfield, Janet (Stowers) Winkler of Divernon and Ricki (Don) Witte of Springfield, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law: Marti Jiannoni,1 brother: Carlo Jiannoni of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was of the catholic faith. She loved to do crossword puzzles. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was employed by the Springfield Clinic doing clerical work and Hobbs Manufacturing and Sears Roebuck & Company as a switchboard operator.
Visitation: 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12:00 noon, Monday, January 10, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
