Mary Frances Weinhoeft, 89, of Springfield, died at 6:37 am, Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born October 11, 1924 in Litchfield, to Joseph and Lena Hoog Hilger. She married Henry J. Weinhoeft, Jr. on June 18, 1949, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1982.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia (James) Mills of Springfield; one son, John (Kerry) Weinhoeft of Springfield; five grandchildren, Christina (Neil) McCutchan, Theresa Schleyhahn, Bryan (Keri) Weinhoeft, Nichole Mills and Ashley Mills and five great grandchildren, Isabella McCutchan, Shawn Kelley, Keaton Weinhoeft, Klayton Weinhoeft and Landon Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson, William Wenhoeft.
Mary retired from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services after 45 years of service and worked for H&R Block for 5 years.
Mary was a member of Church of the Little Flower, where she was a member of the St. Theresa’s Guild. She retired from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services after 45 years of service and worked for H & R Block for 5 years. She volunteered for Sangamon State Auditorium for twenty-five years, was a Samaritan at St. John’s Hospital for ten years and volunteered at Carol Jo Vecchie for five years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Laketown Association, St. Joseph’s Home Rosemary Circle, Catholic Daughters of America, Springfield Women’s Club, Young at Heart Springfield Women’s Group and Women’s Club Bridge Group. She was an avid bridge player.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Church of the Little Flower with Reverend Raphael Paul officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
