Mary Frances Nestler, 84, of Springfield, died at 10:25 am, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at her home. She was born March 8, 1927 in Springfield to Joseph and Frances Sgro Madonia. She married Anthony J. “Nino” Nestler on April 26, 1952 and he preceded her in death on September 20, 1981.
One daughter, Frances Ann Nestler and three brothers, Vincent, Andrea and John Madonia also preceded her in death.
Survivors include eight children, John (May) Nestler of Los Angeles, CA, Joanne (Thomas) Collins of St. Paul, MN, Jeannie (Jim) Serra of Springfield, Mary Patrice (Andrew) Kerr-Grant of Webster Groves, MO, Carol (Mary Lynn Kowalski) Nestler of Nashville, TN, Joseph (Kim) Nestler of Verona, WI, Laura (Nick) Boland of Springfield and Anthony G. (Laura) Nestler of Springfield; sixteen grandchildren; six sisters, Margaret Passeri of Naples, FL, Lucia Midiri of Springfield, Josephine (Larry) Romang of Springfield, Theresa Nicastro of St. Louis, MO, Rosalia Guarella of Las Vegas, NV and Nena (Carl) Rothe of Sherman Oaks, CA; two brothers, Frank (Sandra) Madonia and Sam Madonia both of Springfield and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Nestler was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish for many years. She was a graduate of St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She was a member of Nurses Card Club for greater than 60 years. She was an avid reader, great cook and mother to many.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Friday, June 10, 2011 at Staab Funeral home with a prayer service at 5 pm
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament with Monsignor John Ossola and Reverend David Hoefler officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Grade School.
