SPRINGFIELD – Mary Frances Daugherty, 94, of Springfield died at 12 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Trenton, Ky., the daughter of D.A. and Ann Louise Stokes Wolfe. She married Eugene F. Daugherty on October 20, 1947; he preceded her in death on July 20, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Frances Jean Daugherty; a sister, Catherine Wolfe; and a brother, Anderson Wolfe.
Mrs. Daugherty had been a resident of Springfield since 1943. She worked at St. John’s Hospital, Central Sterilizing for 23 years, retiring in 1979. She also worked for Kresge’s Dime Store and Illinois Shoe Factory.
She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed writing poetry, crocheting when she was able, and working puzzle books.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane (Bob Jr.) Painter of Springfield; three grandchildren, Steve Bosie, Jr. (companion, Jackie Wilder), Gina (John) Wehmhoff and Christy Painter; three great-grandchildren, Nick (Brooke) Bosie, Jake Bosie, and R.J. Wehmhoff; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.to 12 noon, Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be at 12 noon, Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
